SPIRITUAL GROWTH

APPLE OF HIS EYES

Psalm 17:8 KJV – “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings”

It’s a tiny reflection of yourself that you can see in other people’s pupils. To be the apple of someone’s eye clearly means that you are being gazed upon and watched closely by that person. Your very image is dancing in the eyes of that person!

When David asked God to keep him as the apple of His eye, he was asking God to keep an eye on him and not lose sight of him.
It means you are the center of that person’s focus, and they are the center of your focus, protection and love even in bad and good times, His care for us remains constant.

In Matthew 17:5 KJV – While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew 3:17 KJV – And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Jesus is the very apple of God’s eye. There is nothing so tender or as delicate as the eye. Most of us would rather take any injury in order to protect our sight.

Zechariah 2:8 KJV – For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
1 Peter 5:7 KJV – Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

God is mindful of you! God cares for us simply means He is mindful of us; He has chosen us as the apple of His eye and is mindful of us. Beloved, God is mindful of you and delights in you; His delight is in you.
He loves you with an everlasting love. God’s thoughts towards you are of peace and not of evil. He delights in you fulfilling His good plans and purposes for you. God wants you to live and enjoy the good life, all because He loves you and you are precious with Him.
Beloved, embrace His love for you and live life in the light of it. Don’t let the devil sell you cheap lies that God doesn’t love you and that He is indifferent about your wellbeing. God desires above all things that you prosper in every sphere of life and be in health. Let the love that God has for you overwhelm you so much so that your confidence in prayers is enhanced to receive answers from Him when you pray.

Our Duty as the Apple of God’s Eyes

In the same way we are to keep God and His instructions as we keep the apple of our eye. When we are focused on Him, our own fear and worry melts away as we see ourselves where we truly are, protected in the apple of God’s eye. Because we are the apple of His eye, we should give Him just as much regard in keeping Him as the apple of our eye.

Proverbs 7:2 KJV – Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

God is not in any means under compulsion to love, care and protects us. However, He earnestly wants each of us to prosper in His will. He blesses us more than we will ever know. The best we could ever do is to hold him in the highest place we possibly can; which is as the apple of our eye.

The best to do as the apple of His eye is to draw near to him. As the apple of His eyes we must also desire that He will be the apple of our eyes. That’s why the place of intimacy with God can’t be neglected.

James 4:8a KJV – Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

Building Intimacy with God as the Apple of Our Eyes
INTIMACY is the experience of really knowing and being known by another person. An intimate friend is someone we feel very close to; they know us at a deep level.
Our experience of God’s nearness or distance is not a description of his actual proximity to us, but of our experience of intimacy with Him. The more we trust God the more intimately we come to know him. The purpose of life is to pursue and live an intimate relationship with God. God desires that we draw near to Him.

Matthew 6:33 KJV – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
John 17:3 KJV – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

When we dwell in the secret place of the most High, we are practicing intimacy (Psalm 91:1). Intimacy makes us abide in Him (John 15). The desire to know God more increases as our relationship with Him deepens. We must desire more because we need more, and Jesus commands us to seek to know Him more.
Psalm 63:8 KJV – My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Psalm 73:28 KJV – But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.

A felt distance from God is often due to a disruption in trust. To come to intimately know God, we must know crucial things about God.
John 8:32 KJV
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. And he pointed it out in John 4:22 KJV
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Intimacy with God takes a lot of effort. No matter the level you are in God now, there is more.

Many people assume that being intimate with God is a special call- that the average person can’t go there, No! We are all called to draw near.

The Christian walk is a partnership, God is doing his part and you and I doing ours.

Every step you move towards God he unveils himself more to you and shows you more. You can’t finish knowing Jesus Christ. It becomes better daily.

It takes time to grow in the things of God.Every mastery is gained over time of use. God is always committed to our course but are we ready for him?.

The more you get into him, the more truth you know. God is the revealer of secrets and keeper of secrets. Secrets belongs to God and only those who are intimate with him can decode his secrets.

HOW DO WE DRAW NEAR TO GOD?
-Seek him diligently. Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him., Jeremiah 29:11-14
-Decide to obey no matter what the cost may be.Matthew 10:39 KJV He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
*-Immerse yourself in the study of the word. John 15:10 KJV
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
*- Spend time pursuing God.Luke 22:42 KJV
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.*
*- Immerse yourself in intimate worship. Ephesians 5:19
*- Pray regularly in the Spirit and also in your understanding.1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV
Pray without ceasing.*

There is a level of knowing that God to a man you has touched God in the place of prayer.

Let the love for Christ motivate you to spend time with Him.

Get the nourishment from the word of God that will change you from within.

When you are tired of hearing the word of God and praying, your eyes will start to go dim. And the devil plays on one’s ignorance when you don’t know your spiritual senses are dim.

Give adequate attention to your spiritual health. Become solid with a staying power that cannot be tampered with.

Don’t treat the secret place casually.Come to alignment with God.

The highest experience is to always be with Him.Let there be a shift from visitation to habitation.Let Christ dwell richly in you.
Draw near unto him.Its a call to come up higher. Build more intimacy.

Only by intimacy that he can be the apple of our eyes even as we are the apple of his eyes.

May the lord help us in Jesus name.
