Many people despise small beginnings. They prefer to start big, powerful and intimidating. But the wise writer of proverbs admonishes us not to despise days of little beginning. Some successful entrepreneurs believe it is even better to start small and grow along with your business. Many of the big businesses around us today started really small. So don’t wait for some “big” opportunities to show up. Go ahead and start something for the lord has promised that “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase “( Job 8:7).
Here is the true life testimony of a sister who started her business in a small way but has now become a successful entrepreneur. This sister had the wisdom to start groundnut and popcorn business some seven to ten years ago; but her own brand of popcorn and groundnut was totally different in taste ( innovation !) It was so delicious and mouth watering! She named it “enjoy yourself”!. At first she hawked it around packing it in a sack which she slung over her shoulder. Eventually she got a bicycle which eased movement. Then she started supplying shops and kiosks in transparent plastic bucket specially labelled ” Enjoy yourself”!. Now she buys groundnut and corn in bags. At a time she was the boss of up to 7people working under her. Presently she has two (2) vehicles and a personal house. And she is still growing. Truly, ‘ the hand of the diligent maketh rich” ( Prov 10:4).
From small beginnings come great things. We all need to start somewhere. Small beginnings often requires commitment and dedication. A lot of time and hours has to be put into what you have started. What you always need to remember is that God will be with you in your journey of small beginnings. My Friend, don’t despise the little things that you have right now, while you and I have no power to multiply, Jesus certainly does! So as you are building your business involve Jesus and allow his provision of wisdom, power and favour so he can grow little things in your hands .
