God is a parent, a perfect parent who knows all that parenting entails. What a great relief to know you are not alone in your parenting responsibility!. Ask the “Father of all, who owns every child and gives them parents as special gifts and blessings.
He is the one who has blessed you with the children you have now, and He’s definitely interested in the wellbeing than anyone else, including you the parents. He is interested in every detail of their lives, just as He’s keenly interested in you and your parenting. To help you succeed in your task, therefore, He reveals in His word, as the only-wise God, the best parenting style to adopt for your children which is bending their will to His. Eph 6:4.
Parenting is a great task: you cannot accomplish it on your own without divine help. You need to partner with God if you hope to succeed in this venture. Partnering with God makes your parenting task easier, because He’s the one that gives wisdom and grace to do anything aright, including raising kids to become successful men and women in life. You’re not sufficient of your own; he is your own sufficiency.
He has promised to help you raise godly and godly children, if only you’ll trust in him. So don’t venture into parenting without first communing with God. Pray that he will, always and at every stage of your children’s development, give you wisdom, tact, fitness, patience, stamina, and all it takes to raise your children in His way.
Both the bible and contemporary times have a plethora of examples that would encourage you to depend on God in your parenting obligations.
Aside Hanna and other great mums like Eunice, Jochebed and Mary the mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ in the bible, one of the words most celebrated mother’s in our contemporary world is Susanna Wesley. Two of her children John and Charles, turned out to be among God’s great generals who changed the course of church history.
You too can be if you partner with God in your parenting task. Pray, pray, pray and walk with God, and he will make you a successful parent indeed!.
Shalom!
