Today,to some people work is a burden or a punishment as they like to enjoy, play and have fun. To some people work is meaningful, helpful and productive daily life activity, making something, serving someone or providing something of worth to others. Hmmmm.. We all have our general views and perspectives about work.
But the first thing we need to understand about work is that God is a worker. God is a creator, a planter, a commander, a restorer, a potter, a builder e.t.c
God worked, he created the heavens and the earth in six days and he rested. Then the Bible says in Gen 1:31 ‘And God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good’. which means that work is an expression of one and to bring a sense of satisfaction. God created you in his image to work, where you can express yourself, find satisfaction and impact the world around you.
God hates Idleness & laziness. We must all live a productive life. So as a Christian, how do you achieve productivity in your work? How does God expects you to work and also contribute to the well being of others?
1)Whatever you do, do it for Jesus and not yourself, your employer,your immediate boss or anyone. Col 3:17,23
2)Do a legitimate, honest and God-honouring work
3)Know what you’ve got and what you need.
4)Be an expert. Become a guru in what you are most drawn to. Read books articles,research,improve,study and immerse yourself.
5) Be bold and courageous especially in the midst of challenges.
6)Don’t despise small opportunities
7) Be diligent. Avoid laziness,carelessness, indecision. Be industrious and prayerful so you can excel in your work.
In conclusion Prov 14:23.’ In all labor there is profit’.Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might and all benefits will be yours. Shalom!
